Born in 1957 in Falkirk, Charles Monteith Walker studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee between 1978 and 1982. His dynamic yet charming compositions are either joyous imaginary creations or unique stylisations of actual places he finds on his travels. With bold use of colour and strong design, his work emulates many qualities associated with Scottish 'Colourist' traditions whilst always remaining immediately recognisable and truly distinctive. Whether capturing dramatic Scottish landscapes or creating his playful utopian 'visions' of everyday town and country life, Charles' work enjoys universal appeal.
In 1989 his pastel drawing 'Anstruther Sunset' was selected to represent Scotland at the Laing Exhibition in London and his work is now in many Corporate and Private Collections worldwide. he is regarded as one of Scotland's foremost Contemporary Colourists.
