A major exhibition of paintings by the late Ian Stewart Johnstone, who was widely regarded as one of the most talented landscape painters in Scotland.
This exhibition features almost 30 original paintings from a private collection, and is the first showing of Ian Johnstone’s paintings since his posthumous retrospective in 2010.
Ian Johnstone died in 2009 at the early age of only 52 years old. With his sudden and unexpected passing, the Scottish art world lost a talented, gracious and principled man who had a burning passion for his homeland.
Born in Edinburgh, and graduated M.A Hons (Politics) from the University of Edinburgh in 1979, and B.A. Hons (Painting) from Edinburgh College of Art in 1984, Ian was awarded the Catriona White Prize for Drawing and went on to pursue art as his full-time career.
