Born in Malawi in 1962, but raised in Scotland, Alan studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. He graduated with a B.A. Hons. Fine Art in 1984

Making reference to many of the art world’s greatest icons, Alan combines the expertise of the Old Masters with the subversive humour of a true modernist, to create work which is both distinctive and imaginative.

He lived in London between 1988 and 2003 before returning to Angus. He has staged several highly successful solo exhibitions in London, Holland and New York where his work is much sought after.
