Alberto Morrocco

Alberto Morrocco, OBE, R.S.A. (1917-1998) is generally regarded as one of the most successful Scottish Contemporary painters of recent years.

He is internationally renowned for his still life, portraiture and vibrant Italian genre subjects. His colourful visions of everyday life perfectly capture the sunlight, warmth and relaxed lifestyle of the Mediterranean.

Born Aberdeen in 1917, he studied at Gray’s School of Art between 1932-38 and later in France and Switzerland. He won the Guthrie Award in 1942 and was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1962. He was Head of Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art between 1950-82. His work is in numerous major Municipal, Corporate and Private Collections throughout the world.
