Laura Lyon
Bespoke works in mixed media, Laura designs directly for the walls of her customers’ homes. Working on a predominantly large scale, her original, hand painted artworks are bold in their abstract form; well suited to fill the blank spaces in any room.
Inspired by her local environment and the stories it has to tell, Laura channels the emotions that these evoke in her work through the colours and textures that she uses. Textures which work to embody the immersive and tactile experience that comes with creating abstract pieces of art.
‘Sometimes art just makes you feel something, sometimes you can’t even put it into words. Maybe it reminds you of a place, a person, or a memory. With abstract work comes endless interpretations; and there’s something quite magical about that.’
Artworks are entirely made and framed by Laura so that they are informed by her ethos at every step of the process, including the distinctive quirks and imperfections that define handmade works. Variations of concepts and ideas are repeated, but an artwork is never truly repeated; this means that each piece is one of a kind and completely unique.
Laura graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2014 with an Honours degree in Fine Art.
