We are privileged to offer a unique collection of paintings by celebrated Scottish contemporary painters, father and son Alberto and Leon Morrocco.

Alberto Morrocco OBE FRSA FRSE RSW RP RGI LLD (1917 – 98) was born in Aberdeen and studied at Gray’s School of Art under Robert Sivell between 1932 and 1938, entering art school when still aged only 14, and thereafter studied in France, Italy and Switzerland. He is internationally renowned for his landscapes, still-life and figure painting, and perhaps best known works for his vibrant Italian beach scenes and genre subjects.

He was Head of Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee between 1950-82 and staged many highly successful exhibitions throughout the UK and overseas during his long career. His work can be found in numerous major Municipal, Corporate and Private Collections throughout the World.

‘Tay Bridge From Dundee’ is a delightful and intimate work painted in 1978 and shows the River Tay as seen from the artists garden.

Leon Morrocco RSA RGI was born in Edinburgh in 1942, eldest son of the artist Alberto Morrocco. He studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Slade School of Art in London and Edinburgh College of Art. In 1968 he won an Italian government scholarship to study at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. He was lecturer in Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art from 1965 to 1968, and then at Glasgow School of Art from 1969 to 1979 before moving to Australia as Head of the Department of Fine Art at the Chisholm Institute in Melbourne. He retired in 1984 to devote all of his time to painting, and was elected an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1971, and has staged a number of highly successful exhibitions in the UK, Melbourne and Sydney.

His works are inspired by his international travels and can be found in many notable public and private collections, including the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, H.R.H Princess Margaret, Leeds Art Gallery, The Nuffield Foundation, and Queensland Art Gallery.

This outstanding collection of works includes subjects from the East Coast of Scotland and Italy.
