Oscar Goodall RSW
Born in Australia 1924 and moved to Scotland at an early age, spending his formative years in Perth. Studied at Dundee College of Art, 1947 -51, followed by a Scholarship to Hospitalfield House, Arbroath.
Oscar’s work has constantly developed throughout his long career embracing abstraction and challenging convention. However, it is perhaps in his latter landscape work that we see full harmonisation of his considerable talents. Working in oils and pastels, his subjects display an ethereal quality, constructed around his central preoccupation with light and shape.
Taught in various Fife colleges and appointed Regional Art Adviser. Founder member of Dollar Summer School (with Joseph Maxwell) and lectured for The Scottish Arts Council.
A regular exhibitor at The Royal Scottish Academy, RSW, SSA and prominent galleries, his work can be found in several public and corporate collections. He lives in Perthshire and was elected a member of The RSW in 1987.
