Peter Knox
Peter Knox was born in Hartlepool in 1942, and trained at Hartlepool College of Art and Leicester College of Art. In 1968 he was appointed Artist Tutor to the Marine Society – in which capacity he travelled worldwide on merchant ships continuously for a three year period experiencing the transition from traditional cargo ships to the age of the super carrier.
He lectured in art at Norwich, before in 1974, becoming a full-time painter, living and working in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland.
His work can be found in many collections in the UK and abroad, and in the permanent collections of the National Maritime Museum in London.
