Wayne Strachan

Based in Arbroath, Wayne graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone in 1997 with a degree in printmaking and illustration and has since indulged in his passion for painting.

“There is no shortage of visual inspiration around the town of Arbroath where I live. The coastal route to Auchmithie and beyond shows us nature at its most spectacular, beckoning me as an artist to respond. I see and feel its varied moods, from foreboding menace and intensity to serene and peaceful calm. As I venture inland the rolling expanses of fields, trees and hedges can be bleak and windswept one day then glorious and vibrant on another. Every outing and my response to what I see and feel is a personal visual essay as well as an exploration of the relationship I have to it.”
