Zaza Shelley

After graduating from St Andrews University with a first class MA Honours in Art History, Zaza started teaching Art and History of Art at Highgate School in London. She then went on to lecture the collection at the National Gallery in their education department before moving to Scotland where she worked part-time at Sotheby’s.

Upon returning to her roots in Worcestershire in 2014, Zaza began to create and sell her own pieces and turn an ever growing sideline career into a full time reality. Zaza paints animals large-scale in ink and watercolour in a typically loose and uncomplicated style.

She travels to farms and Safari parks to find and draw her subjects then usually works up the larger pieces back at her studio based on her sketches.

Zaza paints swiftly in order to recapture the immediacy of her initial drawings. Above all, she strives to portray the individual personalities of the animals she paints.
