Nicola Mcbride | Homage To Granny
This August we see the return of Nicola McBride to Eduardo Alessandro Studios, with a 20 piece solo exhibition!
This show is titled ‘A Homage to Granny’, the artist explains:
‘Grief is a changeable thing, and it hits you in ways that you aren’t prepared for. On losing her grandmother to Alzheimer’s in March this year, Nicola has created a body of work for her featured artist show ‘Homage to Granny’ to support/deal with her grief and celebrate her grandmother’s legacy. These pieces are based around nostalgic memories of iconic places across Dundee she frequented as a child, words which stem back from conversations and objects which convey the stories her late grandmother would tell.’
Travels around Dundee make up many of Nicola’s memories with her Granny, featuring iconic places throughout our city including The Wellgate Clock, the Tay Rail Bridge, Forte Café, The Ship Inn and so many more! Not forgetting to mention Nicola’s signature scrabble board works where our local dialect takes centre stage, sure to be a hit with fellow Dundonians.
