Amanda Phillips

Amanda is predominantly a painter of landscape- with a background in both design and fine art, her approach to working is varied, but is always in response to her surroundings.

Amanda’s work aims to capture not just the visual aspects of the landscape, but also the soundtrack that comes with it. ‘The idea is that you can ‘hear’ the landscape.’
Working spontaneously, she adopts a mixed media approach which includes paint, gesso and pencil mark making, to create a layered depth of surface.

Having worked as an architect and as a tutor at Edinburgh College of Art, Amanda now paints full-time from her studio and has won awards in both painting and architecture.
